Research Journey

General Research

Personal Research Journey

The topic I chose to research related to early childhood education is Language Development.  I would like to identify ways of fostering language development in young children. Determine if listening and understanding help a child’s language development in a positive way and if relationships between parents and children influence their language development?  In being an early childhood educator it’s important to understand children and their families. By understand child language development and to build knowledge that can improve outcomes for children and their families. Speaking and communicating develops there increasing abilities to understand and use language to communicate information, experiences, ideas, feelings, opinions, needs and questions. Parents have a positive influence on their child’s development. The quality of the parent child relationship is more important than any single parenting practice or skill. The articles from this week will help me validate information that is accurate and not accurate. I will utilize this information when doing my research.

  1. Great choice Clarencia,
I encounter so many children that have speech and language development issues and many get overlooked. I know that researching this topic can and will help foster children in their language development. My niece had a language delay when she was in her early stages of learning (Pre-K). Her mom really didn't pay too much attention to it but I emphasize to her several times that her speech needed to be evaluated. Now she is in High School and she hates to speak in front of a crowd because of the ridicule she faced at a young age. Language delays should always to examined in the early learning stages. Thanks for sharing your topic of choice!

  2. You're quite welcome and I'm elated you enjoyed the post! I have a deep love for speech and language development because my son had that issue and I addressed it at an early stage in his life and it has gotten much better for him and some things now for him are self corrected! O and by the way he has never, ever been afraid to speak in/to large groups. I was more worried for him, but his therapist at that time told me that was the best thing for him; especially if he was not ashamed to do it.
